The second one has a bigger budget, more explosions, trailer looks cool... I think Ebert will give it 3 stars again. He grades these films to how a younger generation will respond to it. Rotten tomato has up some good reviews also. Yeah, I say three stars. Easy money. Looks like Intertops knows it too, they've got it only +100.
If I were going to play this, which I would never do, because this is purely guesswork, I would bet the 2.5 stars for a couple of reasons.
a) Value. You've heard me preach it before. +200.
b) Ebert RARELY gives the sequels an equal or greater rating to the first film, which leads me to believe that he won't here.

AT first I thought Charlie's Angels over Dumberer all the way but after seeing this I guess it won't be that easy.

oh my bad it was 2 stars... He used to be a big time Carrey basher but I think he fnally changed his tune around the time Liar Liar came out. I wouldn't be surprised if he gave Dumberer 1/2 a star, but you never know with that guy.

Gil, you named a couple of examples. I can rattle off about FIFTY where he gave the sequel a lower star rating. Just look at the Lethal Weapons, where he gave each sequel a lower rating than the previous one. Scary Movie, Blair Witch Project. If you would like, I can go on. About 75% of the time, he gives the sequel a lower rating.

I bet the full limit on 3 stars and if you are thinking of doing so aslo... you better hurry... the odds have dropped down to -120 because 3 stars looks to be the play.
